O-1 Visa
The O-1 visa, also known as the extraordinary ability visa, is for individuals with extraordinary abilities in fields such as science, education, business, athletics, or the arts. It requires a U.S. employer or agent sponsor and proof of extraordinary ability or achievement in the applicant’s field of endeavor.
Types of O Visas:
- O-1A: For individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, education, business, or athletics (not including the arts, motion pictures, or television industry).
- O-1B: For individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts or extraordinary achievement in the motion picture or television industry.
- O-2: For individuals who will accompany an O-1 artist or athlete to assist in a specific event or performance.
- O-3: For the spouse or children of O-1 and O-2 visa holders.
An O visa allows for admission to the U.S. for an initial period of up to three years. Extensions of stay can be granted in increments up to one year, intended to allow the individual to continue or complete the same event or activity as described in their initial visa petition.
