The Department of State (DOS) has proposed a pilot program beginning in early 2024 to allow H-1B visa holders to renew their visa stamps inside the U.S. The program will help reduce the workload of U.S. consular offices, as visa holders will finally have the option to renew their visas while in the U.S. Initially the program will be limited to 20,000 applicants but DOS has expressed its strong intent to expand the program after the initial launch has allowed them to work out any operational issues. We are hopeful the program is successful and will share additional details once available.
